Monday, May 24th – Garden City, KS to Parker, CO
My original plan was to head north out of Garden City and visit a location known as the Chalk Monuments near Scott City, Kansas. The road to the Chalk Monuments is unpaved, and it was raining in that area when I woke up. Not feeling like riding the rain-soaked dirt roads to the site, I changed my plans and instead headed west out of Garden City to Lamar, Colorado, then northwest on CO 287 to Limon, a brief jaunt on I-70, and then CO 86 over to Parker, Colorado.
My friend, John, rode his K1200LT out to meet me near Evergreen and lead me in. It had been a great ride from North Carolina to Colorado – a total of 1,957 miles.
